The Sevier News Messenger is the source for the news that Gatlinburg has just been named in The American Bus Association’s Top 100 Events for 2016.
The American Bus Association’s president and CEO, Peter Pantuso, said Gatlinburg was chosen because of the attractiveness of the 4th of July Celebration and The Beans and Cornbread Festival. He also goes on to say they are a magnet for potential tourism dollars and gives Gatlinburg a boost in visibility among professional tour planners.
The ABA’s Selection Committee had hundreds of events submitted by members. The judges considered the broad appeal of the events, and its accessibility to motorcoaches and skill at handling large groups.
Gatlinburg is certainly no stranger to travel groups and national publications. This just serves as another feather in the cap for the town. We always try to avoid the large crowds when we plan our trip, but they are known for throwing wonderful events yearly that seem to always accommodate large groups of people. I applaud this designation along with the many others that recognize Gatlinburg. There are sure to be more in the near future, and when they are reported on, I will be sure to include them right here.
